A 14-year New Orleans local by way of Virginia, Paul Faith is a songwriter who is known for captivating audiences with little more than his guitar, harmonica, and explosive vocals. Together with his backing band, The Barstool Prophets, Paul takes the music he grew up listening to: 90's grunge, pop alternative rock, and the folk rock of artists like Dylan and Young, blends it all together, and the result is Americana songs dressed up in indie/alternative rock clothing. Paul and the band have released two albums, The Smell When It Rains & OH WELL, since 2024. They are poised to release their third album this fall, entitled "All Will Be Made". In addition to regularly gigging around greater New Orleans, Paul is deeply imbedded in the songwriter community in the city. He is the creator and host of a songwriter night for the past three years, entitled the "The Living Room", Fridays at Skeeta Hawk Brewery, and produced a compilation album of new original protest songs written and recorded by 21 different New Orleans artists.

The debut album from Paul Faith, The Smell When it Rains, released in 2024. A folk effort presenting the songs as they are best- just by themselves. Recorded & Engineered in a home studio by Dreux Gerard, it features Paul Faith on mostly acoustic instruments, Hank Neuhoff on Bass, Sky Choice on lead guitar, and Dreux Gerard on Drums.

OH WELL, the sophomore album from Paul Faith and assembled Barstool Prophets, captures the energy of their electric live performances & showcases the band at their finest. The band is comprised of Sky Choice on lead guitar, Sasha Salk on drums (both talented songwriters in their own right), and Hank Neuhoff providing the driving rock and roll force on bass. Together, they huddled up in a friend's house for a 5 day stretch and Dreux Gerard recorded them all live in the same room, with minimal overdubs afterwards. Here, they truly sound like the sum of their influences: some Wilco, a little pop chorus Third Eye Blind, the groove of Dr. Dog, and a healthy dash of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers.

A New Orleans Songwriter Protest Song Compilation Album

Early in 2026, Paul had an idea he couldn't get out of his head: to prompt his friends and fellow songwriters to write and record new, original protest songs for a compilation album. Their response was overwhelming and inspiring. Together, they put out an album of protest songs that run the entire gamut: songs of anger and songs of unity, laments and calls to action, rockers and stripped back roots numbers. Each recorded differently and with a different focus, but each with a common purpose - to dissent, to give voice to the dissatisfaction with the status-quo.

Crescent City Sounds Podcast
​Your New Favorite Song

Crescent City Sounds is built with albums submitted by local artists. The collection is curated by a team of community members and New Orleans Public Library Staff, and selects a limited number of applicants per year to have their music hosted on the public library's website.


The library team collaborated with Tulane University's Podcasting Class to create "Your New Favorite Song" where students pick a track from the Crescent City Sounds' library and create a short podcast about it. A song from Paul's first album was selected- "Good Man". Listen below!
